South Port

The South Port of Dubuque is 33 acres of industrial waterfront property adjacent to downtown was adopted in to the Dubuque Main Street district in 2015. The South Port acreage includes the properties, many of which are vacant, to the east and west of the railroad tracks south of the Locust Street Connector to Railroad Avenue and the highway overpass; along the Mississippi River and to the Bluff. Expanding the Riverwalk and increasing access to this district are future initiatives. It houses various retailers and is home to shipbuilding and repair facilities, petroleum and other storage operations.
